Team Liquid survives TNC scare, warms up for MPL PH clash with Aurora

By: Jerod Orcullo

Team Liquid PH remained undefeated in MPL Philippines Season 15, surviving a reverse sweep scare from TNC Pro Team with a 2-1 victory to open Week 4 at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

Kiel “Oheb” Soriano and Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno, known to fans as the “Babycakes Duo,” delivered stellar performances for TLPH.

Oheb dominated the series opener, finishing with 11 kills and three assists while only dying once. Meanwhile, KarlTzy secured the series with a strong showing on Suyou, posting a 4/2/9 KDA in the decisive game.

Beyond maintaining their perfect record, this match also marked Team Liquid’s first encounter against its former players—Benedict “Bennyqt” Gonzales, Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera, and Sadia “Zaida” Palma.

After the win, KarlTzy acknowledged the challenge posed by his former teammates while praising their skills on the battlefield.

“Expected ko na po talaga na parang magiging close fight talaga kasi alam talaga namin yung capabilities namin as a player. So, kanina hindi ko ineexpect na parang ma-iistop namin sila ganun, parang dikdikan talaga yung laban,” he shared.

TNC’s newest weapon shined in Game 2, registering seven kills and six assists without a single death in a grueling 19-minute, 50-second showdown.

Looking ahead, Team Liquid PH is set for a highly anticipated clash against Aurora, with both teams aiming to protect their unblemished records this Saturday at 7:30 PM in the same venue.

Meanwhile, TNC will attempt to bounce back as it faces ONIC Philippines in the next leg of the tournament.
