MPL PH: Bren survives Omega in tense rubber match

Bren Esports survived a rejuvenated Smart Omega side, mounting a comeback in the rubber match to score their eighth straight win courtesy of a 2-1 victory in Week 5 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 11 on Sunday.

They now have 22pts to continue to sit atop the standings while handing Omega their sixth loss.

Assistant coach Vren “Vrendon” Lin thought they were just lucky today after managing to come back from a deep hole in Game 3.

“On our comeback sa Game 3, actually I think it was their (Omega) game to lose,” he said.

“We also don’t know what happened there. So I guess we’re just lucky, too lucky today,” he added.

In Game 1, Renz “Renzio” Cadua (Arlott) provided the X factor with a timely Final Slash execution helping Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Lancelot) to secure the 19th-minute lord and score a 2-0 wipe.

He once again delivered a pinpoint Final Slash in the ensuing base turret invasion leading to a pick-off on Marco “Super Marco” Requitano (Claude) to take the opener, 1-0.

Bren though played a clean Game 2, outmaneuvering Omega all game long en route to a massive 13-2 lead on the kill tally.

Super Marco (Beatrix) and Kyle Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson (Hayabusa) played perfectly in the match with 4-0-7 and 8-0-2 KDAs, respectively, to force a rubber match.

Smart Omega though played a perfect early game in the decider, taking a 9-0 lead by the 9th minute buoyed by Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ (Claude) 3-0-4 KDA.

But Super Marco’s (Beatrix) triple kill in the 10th minute put the game back to square one and used a lengthy sequence in the 20th minute to take down three Omega members to complete the reverse sweep.
