AP.Bren asserted their mastery over Onic Philippines with a convincing 2-0 victory, propelling them to the second spot in the standings during the penultimate week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 12 at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City on Friday.
The reigning IESF world champions improved their record to 5-5 with 18 points, just ahead of third-placed RSG Philippines (6-4) with 17 points. They are still trailing the league-leading Echo (9-0) with 24 points.
According to coach Vrendon “Vren” Lin, AP.Bren did a long reflection after they lost four of their last five games before facing Onic.
“Nireview lang naming namin yung mga past games namin. On the technical coach point of view, hindi siya nagboboil down sa mechanics or ano man. It’s with the comms and nireview lang namin ang mga bad habits na ginagawa namin sa game, hindi lang sa mga previous games pati sa mga previous tournaments na pinuntahan namin. Sabi lang namin, ibalik lang namin ang dati naming laro,” said Vren on the secret behind their flawless performance against the Sonics
AP.Bren took control of the opener right from the start, securing the first three turtle buffs and the initial lord objective of the match. This allowed them to establish a 9k net worth lead by the 13th minute. However, Jem “JEM” Lanojan (Arlott) executed an accurate Final Slash on Marco “Super Marco” Requitiano (Clint), sparking a 2-0 pick-off and reducing the gold deficit to 5k.
Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel (Valentina) had a pivotal moment in the 16th minute lord fight with a resounding double kill, leading Bren to a game-winning 5-1 wipeout and a 1-0 lead.
In Game 2, Super Marco (Irithel) went on a rampage, posting a 4-0-1 KDA at the 11th minute mark. This allowed AP.Bren to take down all enemy outer turrets and gain control of the map. Super Marco sealed his brilliant performance with a triple kill in the 19th minute to complete the sweep.
This marked Onic’s second consecutive loss after four straight wins, but they still hold fourth place with 15 points.
