Another Filipino mixed martial artist is set to strut his wares under the bright lights of ONE Championship’s minor league.
Moises Ilogon is seizing this opportunity on the undercard of ONE Friday Fights 39, which takes place at the world-renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on November 3.
The 23-year-old Cagayan De Oro native owns a spotless record of 2-0, with both victories coming by way of second-round submission.
Even more captivating is the fact that Ilogon initially began as a pure striker, despite his previous victories being secured through submission. His impressive achievements as a stand-up specialist encompass three-time Muay Thai national titles and a bronze medal in Kun Khmer at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.
Ilogon is currently based in Doha, Qatar, working as a Muay Thai coach at Ox Fitness Lab.
As Ilogon steps into his first assignment on the international MMA stage, he faces a litmus test in the form of South Korea’s Cho Joon Gun. He holds a 3-2-1 standing, with two knockouts under his belt.
It is worth mentioning that Cho seeks redemption after absorbing a third-round submission defeat at the hands of Ismail Khan in his promotional debut this past September.
Ilogon has a lot to live up to on the weekly ONE Friday Fights series, where Filipino compatriots like Carlos Alvarez, Carlo Bumina-ang, and Fritz Biagtan are making significant strides.
The trio has aced their recent assignments, and a win from Ilogon will help sustain the momentum as up-and-coming Filipino talents make their marks through ONE Friday Fights.
Ilogon’s maiden appearance happens the night before Saturday’s ONE Fight Night 16, where Lito Adiwang takes on Jeremy Miado in an all-Filipino strawweight rematch.
