Michelle Cobb has decided to hang up her sneakers at just 26 years old.
The Akari Chargers setter announced her retirement from volleyball on Wednesday night, ending her Premier Volleyball League (PVL) playing career after three seasons.
“Volleyball has been a huge part of my life. It’s where I found confidence, built lifelong friendships, and learned to push myself, win with pride, and lose with grace,” Cobb wrote in a heartfelt message on Instagram.
“After years of love and dedication to the game, I’ve decided to close this chapter. I’m retiring with a grateful heart, proud of everything this journey has given me. To everyone who’s been part of this journey, thank you for being family. Love you all so much! Maraming salamat po.”
While she’s stepping away from playing, Cobb hinted that her volleyball journey is far from over.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, Akari revealed that Cobb will be transitioning into a new role off the court — serving as an assistant team manager and setting coach.
“As I step away from the game, I carry the strength, love, and determination it gave me. This isn’t the end — just a new chapter, written with the same heart that played every point,” she added.
Cobb leaves behind a decorated playing career. She is a two-time UAAP champion, having steered De La Salle University to back-to-back titles in Seasons 79 and 80.
In the PVL, she was instrumental in Akari’s rise, serving as both the team’s playmaker and captain. Under her leadership, the Chargers secured a silver medal in the 2024 Reinforced Conference and a bronze finish in the 2024–25 All-Filipino Conference.
