Meralco signs 6-9 Gani Lawal as import

Meralco will have a new face as their import for the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Bolts announced through their official Instagram account that they have tapped Nigerian big man Gani Lawal as their import.

Lawal stands at 6-foot-9, and is a product of Georgia Tech.

He was drafted by the Phoenix Suns as the 46th overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. After playing for one year with the Suns, he would play in Poland, China, Italy, Turkey, Iran, and Argentina.

Lawal also represented Nigeria in the 2013 FIBA Africa Championship.

Last year, Arinze Onuaku towed Meralco to the fourth-seed. They were then swept by Ginebra in the quarterfinals.
