Manabat, Paat lead Nakhon to VTL bronze

In their first foray in the Volleyball Thailand League, Mylene Paat and Dindin Santiago-Manabat led Nakhon Ratchasima QminC to a third place finish in its 2021-22 season.

Nakhon Ratchasima outlasted Khonkaen Star in the bronze medal game, 25-18, 25-23, 21-25, 25-14, Sunday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.

Paat and Manabat, alongside local player Patcharaporn Sittisad, were a three-headed monster, taking turns in dominating Khonkaen.

Trailing 17-20 in the second set, Nakhon Ratchasima went on an 8-3 closing blast, with the last three points coming from Sittisad, to move a frame away from the win and a place in the podium, 25-23.

However, the third period was for the Star to own with Anongporn Promrat drilling the daggers with back-to-back points to extend the match, 25-21.

But Nakhon Ratchasima bounced back in the fourth salvo, racing to an early 8-4 lead en route to a strong 25-14 win and the bronze medal.

Hathairat Jarat, Em-Orn Phanusit, and Promrat carried the fight for Khonkaen.

The Star won both their encounters against Nakhon Ratchasima in the elimination round. However, the latter went 2-0 in the playoffs against the former.
