Louie Ramirez will now carry an extra sense of pride every time he steps onto the Spikers’ Turf.
The 24-year-old outside spiker spearheaded Cignal’s victorious campaign in the 2024 Spikers’ Turf Invitational Conference, culminating in a masterful performance during the gold medal match.
Ramirez tallied a commanding 24 points, fueled by 21 attacks and three blocks, while also contributing 12 excellent receptions.
His efforts led the HD Spikers to a dominant straight-sets victory over the Criss Cross King Crunchers, 25-19, 25-19, 26-24, in the one-game final on Sunday night at the Philsports Arena, in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
For his outstanding contribution in the title match, the pride of Dasol, Pangasinan, was deservingly named the Finals Most Valuable Player.
“Syempre malaking ambag ‘to sa sarili ko, kasi Finals MVP so dala-dala ko ‘to every game na meron ako, kaya ayon inspired ako lagi dahil sa award na ’to,” said Ramirez.
This championship marked a triumphant redemption for Ramirez, who first joined Cignal during the 2022 Open Conference.
While the HD Spikers reached the best-of-three finals that year, they fell short, losing to the young National University-Sta. Elena squad in straight games.
Returning to Cignal after completing his collegiate career with the University of Perpetual Help Altas, Ramirez made a personal promise to give everything he had in this gold medal match — and he delivered on that vow.
“Sobrang satisfied ako. Nakapaglaro naman ako nang maayos, saka nailabas yung all out na laro ko,” he shared.
Ramirez is no stranger to high-stakes moments. He is a three-time NCAA champion, earning Finals MVP honors twice during his collegiate career.
Now, with his stellar performance and leadership, Ramirez cements his place as one of the faces of Cignal and looks forward to honing his craft even further.
