Losing Kianna Dy was a big blow to F2’s title aspirations, admits Myla Pablo


Myla Pablo admitted that the absence of Kianna Dy played a huge part in F2 Logistics’ downfall against the foreign team Kurashiki in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference semifinals.

Dy missed her second consecutive game in the semifinals due to a right knee injury, and F2 Logistics suffered its third-straight loss, 20-25, 22-25, 20-25, which eliminated them from the semis contention.

“Si Kianna kasi namamaga yung tuhod niya pero hindi ko alam kung anong tuhod niya. I think three weeks ata [dapat] yung pahinga niya so hindi namin pwedeng pilitin yung bata. Syempre health [niya yun],” said the former league MVP, who also battled numerous injuries in the past years.

“May next conference pa naman e so I think mas better na rin na i-pahinga namin si Kianna this conference.”

The former De La Salle University star was subbed out of the fourth set of the Cargo Movers’ pivotal five-set loss to the finals-bound Creamline last Thursday. “Itong game naman namin naging maganda rin naman yung takbo ng game kanina. Pero nagkulang lang din talaga. Siguro hindi naman sa hinahanap namin si Kianna [Dy] sa loob ng court, pero malaking bagay din talaga si Kianna sa amin especially sa blocking, sa opensa niya,” said Pablo.

“So yun nga sabi namin para kay Kianna ‘tong game na ‘to pero hindi namin nakuha yung win. Pero at least binigay namin yung best namin. Nakakapagod yung game talaga pero nilaban talaga namin ‘tong game na ‘to.”

With Dy out, Ivy Lacsina, a former middle blocker who was converted to an open spiker, slid into the opposite role and was limited to just two points by the Ablaze.

Meanwhile, Pablo once again shouldered the scoring load with 12 points to lead the Cargo Movers.

“Nagkulang din talaga kami sa opensa sa loob ng court especially ‘di rin gumana sa opposite [si Ivy Lacsina] dati nag-open siya. Mahirap lang din talaga i-balance talaga sa loob ng court na iba-iba yung position ng bawat isa,” said Pablo.

“Pero syempre yung binigay na role sa amin ng mga coach, dapat talaga panindigan namin [kasi] para sa team naman ‘to e.”
