Team USA felt right at home in the Philippines, sweeping Week 2 of the 2026 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League at the Philsports Arena.
The Americans were nothing short of dominant in the Pasig leg, finishing with a perfect 4-0 record while dropping just one set across four matches.
USA’s Week 2 run was highlighted by a 27-25, 25-20, 25-16 straight-sets victory over defending champions and World No. 1 Italy on Saturday, before closing the week with a 25-22, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20 win over Serbia on Sunday. They also secured clean three-set victories over the Dominican Republic and Czechia.
“Being here in the Philippines, the fans were amazing. I think our team just did a really good job of staying together,” said USA outside spiker Logan Eggleston after their final win in the Philippines.
“We played really clean volleyball, and as a complete unit, I think it took all 15 of us to you know, complete the 4-0 this week, so just really, really proud.”
The perfect week lifted the Americans to second place in the 18-team field with a 7-1 record, just behind lone unbeaten Brazil.
The 4-0 campaign in front of the lively Philsports Arena crowd may prove to be the confidence boost Team USA needed heading into the final week, where they will compete in Pool 9 featuring some of the world’s top-ranked teams.
Week 3 runs from July 8 to 12 in Japan, where the USA will face Asian powerhouse Thailand, World No. 4 Türkiye, World No. 3 Poland, and World No. 2 Brazil.
“This is really gonna help us, you know. Obviously, I think just momentum going in this tournament, it’s really nice to come out a week 4-0, and I’m excited to see what next week brings and how we can continue on to the finals,” said Eggleston, who led USA against Serbia with 17 points.
The Philippine leg of this year’s VNL may have come to a close, but the country will remain special in Eggleston’s memory after the Americans swept their games in front of a supportive and appreciative crowd.
“It’s been so fun to come into this gym and just have a really nice and fun environment. We’ve enjoyed our time here,” she said.
“It’s just a really, really fun environment. So much love, and we love being here. Thank you.”
