Team USA extended its winning streak, dispatching Czechia in commanding fashion, 25–17, 25–12, 25–16, in Week 2 action of the 2026 FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League, presented by the Philippine Sports Commission, on Thursday at the Philsports Arena.
A back-breaking 9–0 run after a 9-all deadlock, sparked by a service ace from Jordyn Poulter and an attack error from Eva Svobodova, proved decisive as the Americans cruised to their fourth straight victory.
Czechia briefly tried to mount resistance with consecutive points from Ela Koulisiani and Magdalena Jehlarova, but it was not enough as Stephanie Samedy sealed the win in just one hour and seven minutes.
“I’m happy to be back in the flow with the girls. I think we knew that Czechia is a good team. They’re a pretty balanced team, and they always come out with a lot of energy. So, I’m proud of us for starting strong and continuing that energy throughout the match,” said Avery Skinner, who provided the spark against the Czechs after sitting out the previous game.
Skinner, the 27-year-old outside hitter, set the tone for the World No. 7 side in the opening set, finishing with six points, including a block on Monika Brancuska as the Europeans threatened to close in.
From there, the Americans remained in full control, even building a 20–10 cushion in the second set. Jordan Thompson also contributed offensively, helping maintain the comfortable separation.
Thompson led Team USA in scoring with 15 points off 14 attacks and one block.
Chiaka Ogbogu anchored the net defense with six blocks, adding four attacks and one ace, while Logan Eggleston chipped in 10 points.
The USA improved to a 5–1 win-loss record and will face reigning champion Italy (4–1) in a highly anticipated showdown on Saturday at 4 p.m.
No Czech player reached double figures, with Jehlarova finishing as the top scorer with seven points on six kills and two blocks. Koulisiani and Brancuska also added seven points apiece.
Czechia (3–3), meanwhile, will look to secure its first win of the leg against unbeaten Japan (5–0) on Friday at 8 p.m.
