Lito Adiwang ready for MOA Arena’s bright lights

Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang knows all about winning, especially since he has not tasted defeat for over five years.

He also understands winning is not the be-all, end-all of competition. It is this attitude that he brings to the Circle when he takes on Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit at ONE: Fire and Fury on January 31 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.

“Being exciting should be the trademark of every fighter. For me, we’re in a professional sport; we have to show what we’re capable of. We’re not just going there to get a win,” Adiwang said.

“You have to give it your best and make it exciting, win or lose. Regardless of the result, you’ll leave a mark, and that’s what I want to be on my legacy.”

In less than two weeks, Adiwang gets a chance to showcase just how exciting he can be against the Thai, who is coming off consecutive losses — both of which coincidentally took place in Manila.

Knowing this, the 26-year-old Baguio City native expects a good scrap in his first match in the Mall of Asia Arena.

“I know he is coming off a loss, so I expect him to come in hungry to win and be motivated — especially [since] it’s also in Manila where he last loss,” Adiwang said.

“If I am Pongsiri, that would be on my mind — winning at all costs. I expect him to come in with that mentality, and I will prepare for that.”

And make no mistake, all those pleasantries will be set aside the moment the cage door closes and the opening bell rings.

Eager to walk the talk, expect Adiwang to go for the finish the moment he sees an opening.

“I’ll try to hunt for a finish. It depends on where the match falls, I need to finish it,” Adiwang said.

“Either submission or KO.”

Adiwang, alongside his teammates in Team Lakay, battle the world when ONE Championship stages its first show in the Philippines for 2020 at ONE: Fire and Fury on January 31 at the Mall Of Asia Arena.

Watch the event live and dine with your ONE Championship heroes in the Boodle Feast VIP package, which includes two tickets for the event and access for two to the Boodle Feast on 29 January at the City Of Dreams.
