Lebron Lopez turns pro, signs with Overtime Elite

Overtime Elite has announced that Lebron Lopez has signed with the league.

This means that the 18-year-old has turned pro.

“We’re delighted to have Lebron join the OTE family as we expand our international reach, bringing in top talent from across the globe,” said Brandon Williams, OTE EVP, head of basketball operations in a press release.

“Francis is a young man who has impressed us with both the combination of pure passion for the game and self-improvement, physical athleticism, work ethic, as well as many leadership intangibles. He’s the kind of player we want and expect to thrive at OTE.”

Overtime Elite is a league that offers a year-round development program combining world-class coaching; cutting-edge sports science and performance technologies; top-notch facilities; and a rigorous, highly personalized academic program that energizes and enhances each athlete’s journey from proficiency to pro.

Each prospect will get to earn a six-figure salary with a minimum of $100,000. In addition, OTE will also give each player the freedom to find their own sponsors.

By turning pro, however, Lopez has forgone his collegiate eligibility.

In his sole year with Ateneo High School after transferring from La Salle Green Hills, he averaged 16.0 points on 45-percent shooting, 9.2 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks.

He made his Gilas team debut last month. Lopez had eight points, five rebounds, one steal, one block, and a steal in the Philippines’ 76-51 win over Indonesia.

Other young prospects signed by OTE are five-star prospects Jalen Lewis, Matt and Ryan Bewley; Amen and Ausar Thompson, and Jai Smith; and international players Jean Montero, Emmanuel Maldonado, Alexandre Sarr, and Nathan Missia-Dio.
