LA Tenorio missed a PBA game for the very first time in his career, as he was out of Barangay Ginebra’s Governors’ Cup match versus Meralco Wednesday.
The 38-year-old guard aggravated his sports hernia and has been missing practices due to the injury, according to a broadcast report.
With that, the league’s Iron Man streak has ended.
Since entering the league in 2006, Tenorio has played in 744 straight games – 148 games clear of the previous record set by four-time MVP Alvin Patrimonio.
The no. 4 overall pick has yet to fully recover from the abdominal injury he suffered during the Kings’ Commissioner’s Cup Finals series versus Bay Area.
Tenorio has played in six games this Governors’ Cup thus far, seeing action for an average of 10 minutes with figures of 2.3 points and 1.3 assists.
Mark Barroca of Magnolia now has the longest active string of consecutive games played at 538 games and counting.
Ginebra is eyeing its fifth win (4-2) against the 5-3 Bolts.
