Kieffer Alas’ trip to Australia won’t just be for practice — he’s set to train with a semi-professional team.
The reigning UAAP High School Boys’ Basketball Most Valuable Player will be working out with the Warwick Senators, a club in Australia’s NBL1 West.
This was confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by the Alas family, who are currently preparing for Kieffer’s flight to Australia this weekend.
Alas will spend most of the summer in Warwick before heading to the United States to continue his basketball journey.
Coming off a stellar Grade 11 season with De La Salle-Zobel, the 18-year-old combo guard averaged 20.07 points, 11.14 rebounds, 4.93 assists, and 1.07 steals per game — numbers that earned him the league’s top individual honor.
The Warwick Senators are currently undefeated at 6-0 and are led by head coach Andrew Cooper, who will also mentor Alas during his stint.
The Alas family was connected to the club through coach Rob Beveridge, a close friend of Alex Compton and Eric Altamirano.
Following his time in Australia, Alas will fly to the United States for his Grade 12 year.
The family clarified that he has yet to receive a Division I NCAA offer but is already set to enroll at Layton Christian Academy.
Ultimately, the goal is clear: for Kieffer Alas to earn an athletic scholarship and compete at the NCAA Division I level.
