Kekedot shrugs off trauma in return to MPL stage

In the world of esports, victories and losses can have a tremendous impact on a player’s mental health.

For Onic Philippines roamer Jefferdson “Kekedoot” Mogol, a traumatic first season in the professional scene nearly ended his career before it could take off.

During MPL Philippines Season 7, Kekedoot played for Cignal Ultra, a team that failed to secure a single victory and finished in 9th-10th place. This devastating loss shook Kekedoot to his core, and he admitted in a recent interview that he had to overcome the trauma that came with it.

“Sa nangyari sa Cignal parang natotrauma na akong maglaro kasi nga wala kaming panalo nun eh,” Kekedoot revealed to members of the media.

Despite this setback, Kekedoot was determined to keep pursuing his dream of becoming a professional esports player. He joined the Onic Philippines roster in the following season but spent most of his time on the bench due to the stellar performance of skipper Dudut.

In Season 11, however, Kekedoot was given a chance to prove himself. Although he felt the pressure of the upcoming games, he knew that he had to give his best and not let his past losses define him.

“Napepressure din ako ngayong season bago kami magpilian ng mga lalaro. Tas ginawa ko na lang yung best ko kasi inisip ko wala namang mangyayari kung susuko ako. Ayun, maganda naman yung nangyari kaya masaya ako,” he said.

But Kekedoot did not do it alone. He leaned on his coaches for support and guidance to help him overcome his trauma and self-doubt.

“Sa mga tulong ng coach po. Yung lagi nila akong tinutulungan. Sinasabi nila sakin na kelangan magmoveforward ka lagi. Magmove forward ka na kasi tapos na yan e, nangyari na,” Kekedoot explained.

With the help of his coaches and his determination to move forward, Kekedoot was able to overcome his past losses and showcase his skills in Season 11. His debut performance proved that he had a solid foundation and a bright future ahead of him in the world of esports.
