Kean Baclaan out 6–8 weeks with MCL tear

De La Salle University’s injury woes continue.

Kean Baclaan will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee.

Green Archers head coach Topex Robinson confirmed the news to Tiebreaker Times.

Baclaan, a 21-year-old guard who transferred from National University two years ago, was having one of his best games in a Green Archers jersey on Wednesday.

He tallied 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting, along with four assists and three rebounds, before a freak accident occurred.

With 4:20 left in regulation, Baclaan secured a loose ball but fell to the floor.

Wello Lingolingo attempted to force a jump ball but accidentally landed on Baclaan’s right leg, causing the injury.

Baclaan was stretchered out of the SM Mall of Asia Arena and taken to Makati Medical Center after the game.

Despite the setback, La Salle won in overtime, 111-110.

This season, Baclaan is averaging 10.2 points, 4.2 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game.

The earliest he is expected to return is the week of November 26, with a latest possible return in the second week of December.

The injury comes shortly after Mason Amos suffered the same type of knee injury on October 12.

During La Salle’s game against National University, Gelo Santiago, attempting to pass through a screen, stumbled and collided with Amos’s right knee.
