Kai Sotto will have ample time to prepare for his Adelaide debut.
The National Basketball League-Australia has announced that it will begin its 22nd season on November 18.
The calendar of games will come out in the coming days.
“Having a start date confirmed for November provides clarity for our clubs, players, coaches, staff, partners, broadcasters and fans, as we all prepare for what promises to be another amazing season,” said NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger.
The league has delayed its start date for its new season due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Based on expert advice and based on our own experiences from last season, delaying a month gives us more flexibility and most importantly, it provides fans a much better chance of attending more games in Australia and New Zealand as the number of people vaccinated against COVID increases towards the end of the year,” said Loeliger.
For his part, Sotto has been in Australia since August 9.
After clearing protocols, the 19-year-old is expected to join the 36ers in their training camp. He, along with former G Leaguers Emmanuel Malou, Dusty Hannahs, and Todd Withers, are the new faces for the team that finished seventh last season.
Holdovers from last season are Daniel Johnson, Isaac Humphries, Mitch McCarron, Mojave King, Sunday Dech, and Tad Dufelmeier.
A set of preseason games will likely take place on October.
