Kai Sotto backs out of Mighty Sports Dubai campaign

Kai Sotto will not make it to Dubai to join Mighty Sports in its campaign in the 2020 Dubai International Basketball Championship.

According to the team backed by Creative Pacific of Bong Cuevas, Go for Gold, Oriental Group, Discovery Primea, and Gatorade, unresolved logistical and scheduling issues on his part led to the withdrawal.

Head coach Charles Tiu is not blaming anyone, though, saying that “This development was beyond his control.”

Moreover, the team has already tapped Isaac Go to replace Sotto, with everything going smoothly during the team’s practice sessions.

“Despite the absence of Kai, our team is still complete with a formidable line-up of young, athletic, very talented and inspired amateur players like Thirdy Ravena, Dave Ildefonso and Juan Gomez de Liaño, who are ably reinforced and strengthened by the likes of towering, confident, experienced and spirited players like Andray Blatche, Renaldo Balkman and McKenzie Moore,” the youthful head coach said.

Currently, Sotto is playing for Atlanta-based development team The Sports Factory.

Mighty Sports leaves on the 22nd and will play their first game the next day against the UAE’s National Team.
