Justin Brownlee is taking his act to Indonesia.
The resident Ginebra import has joined Pelita Jaya of the Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), the ball club announced via social media Wednesday.
Brownlee, according to previous reports, is expected to play with the team until June to keep himself busy while awaiting his next Philippine team call-up.
Gilas won’t play until the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in July.
This will be his first pro stint since coming back from a three-month suspension due to a doping violation he committed during the 19th Asian Games.
But he’s coming into Pelita Jaya in form, thanks to that Gilas campaign in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers’ opening window last February.
There, he averaged 21.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assist to lead the Filipino dribblers to a sweep of Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei.
This marks another stint in Asia for the naturalized Filipino after the Philippines, Lebanon, and UAE. He won championships in all of those stops.
Now, the 35-year-old is looking to bring his championship pedigree to a Pelita Jaya crew that finished as runners-up in the 2022-23 IBL season.
He will be teaming up with other former PBA imports – Thomas Robinson and KJ McDaniels – as well as naturalized Indonesian guard Anthony Beane.
Also part of Pelita Jaya are known national team members Brandon Jawato, Andakara Prastawa, Arighi Muhamad, and Agassi Goantara, to name some.
Brownlee could also suit up for Pelita Jaya in the Basketball Champions League Asia Qualifiers’ first round on April 3-7 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
