Juami Tiongson confirmed that he’s out for the remainder of Terrafirma’s PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup campaign due to a partial tear on his hamstring.
The Dyip star said that he may no longer be able to return to the conference as he’ll be sidelined for about three weeks after MRI scans revealed the true extent of the injury he sustained during their 124-103 loss to Magnolia last Sunday.
The 33-year-old disclosed as much on Thursday night, moments after the 107-89 defeat they suffered at the hands of TNT at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
He was with the team in that game but was clad in street clothes, helplessly witnessing his side fall to its fifth loss in as many outings.
After Thursday’s match, the Dyip are set to play five more group stage games in the next two weeks, in which they won’t have their main man to lean on.
The 2024 Mythical Second Team played in four games this conference and averaged 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists before getting hurt.
Needless to say, it is a tough predicament for a Terrafirma side whose rebuilding phase with BPC winners Christian Standhardinger and Stanley Pringle have been shaky, to say the least, due to injuries to key players.
Aside from Tiongson, sophomore big man Kemark Carino has been sidelined due to a groin injury, which he suffered during the Hotshots game as well.
