Jay Washington signs with B.League’s Ryukyu

It looks like Jay Washington’s final run will happen in Japan.

The 40-year-old veteran has signed a one season deal to play for B.League team Ryukyu.

Washington was the first overall pick in the PBA Draft back in 2005.

The product of Eckerd College ended up playing for multiple franchises, including TNT, San Miguel, Northport, and Blackwater.

During his 17-year run in the PBA, Washington won four PBA championships, two Best Player of the Conference awards, and made the Mythical Team thrice.

He ended up being a free agent prior to the start of PBA Season 47.

Washington went on to play with Pretty Huge’s 3×3 team in the 2022 Thai Super League 3×3 basketball tournament.

Now, Washington needs to prove that he still got it.

The Golden Kings were the top seed entering the 2022 B.League playoffs after finishing the elimination round with a 49-7 record. However, Ryukyu lost to Utsunomiya in the finals, 2-0.
