Jared Bahay might not be heading to University of the Philippines.
According to multiple sources close to Bahay and his family, he is considering other opportunities for the next level of his basketball career.
Specific reasons for the change of heart were not disclosed, but a combination of academic factors, recent college basketball results, and even international offers have been considered.
The 18-year-old guard is the top high school prospect in the class of 2024.
During his tenure with the Magis Eagles, Bahay led the school to two championships in their “three-peat” in the CESAFI.
In the CESAFI Season 23 Finals, he averaged 16.0 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.0 steals, earning him the Finals MVP award.
The 18-year-old guard is also a mainstay in this batch’s Gilas Youth.
In March of this year, Bahay “committed” to UP.
However, as seen in the cases of Jake Figueroa (Adamson to NU), Kean Baclaan (UST to NU), Gani Stevens (UST to UE), and, most recently, Francis Lopez (Ateneo to UP), nothing is final until a student-athlete has been enrolled.
