Jaja Santiago checked by Hisamitsu as Ageo Medics enter V.League break with loss


Saitama Ageo Medics bowed to Hisamitsu Springs, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 20-25, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Women’s tournament, Sunday at the Saga Sunrise Park Gymnasium.

Jaja Santiago struggled, producing just seven points on a 5-of-22 efficiency in spiking, good for just 22.7 percent.

Shainah Joseph followed her 35-point outburst yesterday with a 25-point performance in the losing cause.

The loss dropped Saitama to a 6-7 win-loss slate, tied with Hisamitsu, heading into the one month break of the league.

Trailing 16-18 in the fourth set, the Springs take it up a notch, finishing the game on a blistering 9-2 blitz for the victory.

Arisa Inoue led Hisamitsu to the victory with 21 points on 17 attacks, three block kills, and a service ace.

Ageo Medics will be back in action on January 10, 2021, 2:30 pm, against KUROBE Aquq Fairies at the Zip Arena Okayama.
