Ivy Lacsina revealed that Taka Minowa’s system proved to be one of the main reasons why she decided to pick Nxled to be her home following the disbandment of F2 Logistics after the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference.
In a video posted by the Chameleons on their Facebook page, the former Cargo Mover standout said that she played in a similar system back in his time with National University in the UAAP, where she won a championship in her final playing year in Season 84.
“Syempre yung una ko pong tinignan is yung sistema kasi dahil nga po nandito si Coach Taka (Minowa) and nung NU pa po kasi kami is more on Japanese style kami,” shared Lacsina.
“Kaya sabi ko parang maganda bumalik doon sa sistemang yun kasi naging successful po yun nung nasa NU kami,” she added.
Lacsina expressed her gratitude to Minowa for helping her ease into the system and guiding her throughout her training session with her new squad.
“Syempre nung first day talaga super hirap siya para sakin kasi maraming adjustments, masakit pa yung legs ko ganiyan pero sabi nga niya (Taka) nasa process daw [kami],” said Lacsina.
“Timing lang lahat ng mga gagawin kaya parang mas nagustuhan ko kasi gina-guide niya ako,” she added.
The 6-foot-1 versatile spiker is set to bolster a young Chameleons side that is currently led by Lycha Ebon, Jho Maraguinot, May Luna, and her former college teammate Kamille Cal.
“Yung pinakamadadala ko sa Nxled is syempre kung papaano talaga ako maglaro and kung ano yung mga kaya kong gawin or ibigay sa team like ako kaya kong maglaro ng iba’t ibang pwesto, ganiyan. Pero syempre one step at a time lang ako.”
