Ivy Lacsina finds comfort in Nxled’s support


Ivy Lacsina showed unparalleled determination and heart in Nxled’s third set comeback against Capital1 on Tuesday.

Off during the first two sets, the 6-foot-1 outside spiker emerged when the Chameleons needed her most.

Lacsina dominated in the latter part of the third frame, scoring eight of Nxled’s final 11 points to defeat the Solar Spikers, 25-13, 25-23, 25-22 at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The 24-year-old Lacsina credited her late outburst to her teammates and coaches, who never doubted her despite her slow start.

“Siguro masyado akong tense nung first two sets pero ayun, yung teammates and coaches ko kinakalma nila ako na gawin ko lang kung ano yung laro ko,” said Lacsina postgame.

“Dahil talaga sa kanila kaya mas naging composed ako nung last set.”

Capital1 established a commanding 11-2 lead in the third but Nxled fought back through the efforts of Camille Victoria, Lia Pelaga, Jai Atienza, and Jho Maraguinot.

The National University product said that it was their heart that shone that led them to their fourth victory in 10 games for joint-seventh with sister team Akari.

“Yung ipinakita namin nung last set is more on puso kasi syempre, dumadating talaga sa time na ang isang team nandoon na sila sa pinaka down point nila,” said Lacsina.

“Nung time na nafeel namin na ang laki na masyado ng lamang, kumapit ulit kami sa isa’t isa and sabi namin maglaro lang tayo and magkaroon tayo ng puso sa laro natin.”

And the Chameleons are looking to build on this for the next conference.
