ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio and flyweight contender Danny “The King” Kingad are known to be best of pals in Team Lakay.
However, there was one particular time when their friendship almost hit a “boiling point.”
Buddies outside of the ONE Championship Circle and ferocious sparring partners inside of the gym, the pair had to undergo a brotherly “quarrel” over their choice of entrance music in God’s Not Dead by Christian rock band Newsboys.
“That was supposed to be my entrance music in ONE. Actually, he used that walkout song before my World Title bout [against Yoshitaka Naito in September],” Pacio said.
“Of course, he’ll get to be the guy who uses it. I remember when we were announced to be on the same card, I had no choice but to let him use it moving forward.”
Surprisingly, the naturally mild-mannered duo argued a little about it. Eventually, Pacio gave in to Kingad, as he started using The Show Goes On by Lupe Fiasco.
Though he has already conceded the song to Kingad, “The Passion” loves that Newsboys’ record so much that he still wants to use it at some point in the near future.
“Maybe I can still use it when we’re not battling on the same card, but I already conceded he has dibs on it,” the strawweight king confessed.
Pacio then went on to explain why that entrance song holds a special place in his heart.
“Being a Christian, I’d like to be an instrument in letting everyone know that He is there, He is alive, and He is the one who continuously guides me and gives me strength.”
While the 23-year-old Baguio City native is already blasting Lupe Fiasco during his walkouts, he still continues to look for the perfect track which will allow him to profess his faith.
“Until now, I am still looking for a light Christian song for my entrance music,” Pacio proudly shared.
“It’s something I want to do in the name of God.”
