Gilas 23 for 2023 cadet Remy Martin is set to return to Arizona State after withdrawing from the 2020 NBA Draft.
The team announced the development on its social media accounts.
“I’m blessed to have the opportunity to coach Remy Martin for one more season,” read Sun Devils head coach Bobby Hurley.
“Remy will be one of the best players in college basketball this year and will be on a mission to lead Arizona State basketball in its pursuit of championships.”
Last March 31, the 22-year-old threw his name in the draft.
However, the 6-foot floor general then had a change of heart a day before the deadline for draft aspirants.
The Fil-American cager made a mark in his first three seasons with Arizona State.
He led the Sun Devils with 19.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 2019-20, putting them on the cusp of a third straight NCAA Tournament appearance until the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic canceled the nationals.
Martin provided immediate impact right in his freshman year in 2017-18, coming off the bench to help Arizona State reach the NCAA tourney for the first time in four years. In that time, he also became one of Gilas Pilipinas’ targets.
In his sophomore year, the 2018 PAC-12 Sixth Man of the Year normed 12.9 points and 5.0 dimes. The Sun Devils made it back to the NCAA meet, marking the first time they made consecutive appearances since 1980-81.
Now, Martin looks to settle some unfinished business with the Sun Devils.
