Though the TNT KaTropa may have lost Game 2, 106-91, on Thursday, Jayson Castro said that the team views it as a wake up call for them as they aspire to claim the 2016 PBA Governors’ Cup.
“Baka yung mga players, naging kuntento na. Siguro wake up call sa amin yun para pagdating ng Game 3, ready kami,” he said.
The Bolts had their foot on the pedal all game long, pummelling the KaTropa early on before establishing a 24-point lead, 76-52, in the third period.
Even Jayson Castro’s blazing performance couldn’t help TNT salvage the victory, as the coaches opted to bench the Best Player of the Conference front-runner for the entirety of the fourth quarter with Meralco leading, 80-60.
“Up by 20 na sila. Maganda ang laro ng Meralco eh. Coaches’ decision yun para na lang din mas fresh ako sa third game,” he said, finishing the game with 24 points and four assists.
Still, TNT is optimistic about the task at hand, as Castro and the whole gang remain positive with the team’s chances come Game 3 on Saturday.
“Lahat naman kami positive kasi kailangan din namin matalo para malaman namin ang weakness namin. Nakapag-adjust din sila today eh. Sa series, it’s a game of adjustments. Maga-adjust na lang kami sa Game 3.”
