The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers haven’t delivered so far in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix. With a 0-2 slate, the reigning All-Filipino champions need to pick up wins if they want to keep in track of a playoff campaign.
Most of F2’s problems, ironically, have been logistics. They lack one import, as Hayley Spelman has yet to arrive in the country from Kazakastan, while the import they already have, Sydney Kemper, has only been practicing with the team for less than two weeks.
Moreover, two of their local players, Kim Fajardo and Mika Reyes, have been unable to regularly practice with the team due to their inclusion in the F2 Logistics-Manila squad that will play in the FIVB Women’s Club Championship.
Perhaps the biggest loss to F2 to start the season has been Ara Galang.
At least, that’s what head coach Ramil De Jesus has deduced from his team’s performance.
“Iba kasi kapag naglalaro si Ara, makikita mong nabubuhayan ng loob ‘yung mga teammates niya,” De Jesus said of his longtime spiker.
Initial reports indicated that Galang would be out until after the PSL’s nearly-three week break for the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship. The UAAP Season 75 MVP had had a minor operation on her right knee to drain excess fluids.
Seeing another poor outing from his team, De Jesus fielded Galang ahead of schedule against Petron, Tuesday evening.
“Nakita ko kasi na sobrang hirap kami sa service receive. Alam naman natin na si Ara maganda talaga ang receive niyan kaya sinubukan ko na,” De Jesus added.
Still, the Cargo Movers floundered, but not without seeing some optimism. For her part, Galang was glad she could play.
“Hindi pa naman ako naka-talon-talon pero, at least, nakakapaghanda ako at nagagamay ko na ulet ‘yung laro namin,” Galang said.
On her team’s struggles, she thinks it comes down to chemistry.
“Kailangan lang talaga siguro namin mag-jelling pa as a team. Once na makapag-training kami ng marami, makukuha din namin ‘yung laro ng isa’t isa.”
