Former Chief Jeo Ambohot shows Arellano what they are missing

Every time Jeo Ambohot performs well, Letran wins

In their first win against the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals last July 18, the Letran revelation finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks.

In their second and latest win against the Arellano University Chiefs on Tuesday afternoon, Ambohot finished with 15 points to top all scorers again, while tallying 13 rebounds and five blocks.

Apparently, he was playing inspired basketball versus his former team, Arellano.

“Motivation ko din yun na tinanggal ako dun sa Arellano. Kaya sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na kung sila ang kalaban namin papakita ko ang best ko,” said Ambohot, who used to play in Arellano’s Team B two years ago before transferring to Intramuros.

“Pamilyar po yung mga ‘yun talaga, mga kaibigan ko yun eh.”

Aside from playing against the team that he used to play for, he shared his other inspirations, “Syempre si God, family ko, at Letran.”NCAA-93-CSJL-AU-Ambohot-4452 Former Chief Jeo Ambohot shows Arellano what they are missing Basketball CSJL NCAA News - philippine sports news

The 20-year-old, who fits in perfectly in the Jeff Napa-mentored squad in Letran, also shared that he has been doing a lot of extra training in order to condition himself to play at the level of NCAA.

“Andito na ako. Dito ako sa Letran nabibigyan ng playing time.

“Extra work lang, go hard ng go hard saka nag we-weights ako kahit payat ako!,” Ambohot said.

Letran leaders Rey Nambatac and Bong Quinto had expressed before that they really need help if they want to make it big this season. Now with Ambohot’s stellar performance, they are assured that they have a reliable presence in the paint with their 6-foot-6 center.

Moreover, Arellano head coach and PBA legend Jerry Codinera is elated to see his former student find his niche, albeit on another team.

“Three years sa amin yan. I’m just happy for him,” said the Defensive Minster.

“He’s really better with Letran. Ganda ng improvement, double-double [madalas]. Matalino yung bata, magaling.”

Despite Ambohot’s impressive performance so far this season with Letran, the student-athlete from Compostela Valley is still not accustomed and gets baffled with all the media attention he gets.

But with three more years to play for the Blue and Red, he will surely warm up with the attention and he will definitely improve more, much to the delight of the Letran faithful.
