Far Eastern University did not look far to find its new head coach.
Former Tamaraw Denok Miranda was named as the head coach of FEU, the school announced on Wednesday.
Miranda was part of the FEU champion team that won UAAP Seasons 66 and 67.
Miranda has been an assistant coach with the Tamaraws since 2014, but only committed full-time back in Season 82.
The 5-foot-11 floor general’s first head coaching stint was in the MPBL when he steered Binan City-Luxxe Slim to a 12-18 record in the South Division.
Serving as his lead assistant is Mark Isip, while cage luminary Johnny Abarrientos accepted the role of team consultant.
Abarrientos, 52, is one of the top 25 players to ever grace the PBA.
After winning two titles with FEU and a UAAP MVP plum to boot, he had a stellar PBA career, winning 12 championships and was crowned MVP back in 1996.
He is also an assistant coach in Magnolia.
Miranda replaces Olsen Racela, who was the head coach of FEU from 2017 to 2022.
He compiled a 37-39 record.
