Falcons AP.Bren reclaim form in MPL PH with commanding sweep of RSG

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Falcons AP.Bren bounced back from their loss last Friday with a dominant 2-0 sweep of RSG Philippines in the MPL Philippines Season 14, held at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

This marked RSG’s second consecutive defeat, adding pressure as the regular season is nearing its end.

The pivotal moment of the match came when Rowgien “Owgwen” Unigo, playing Ruby, initiated a crucial pick-off on Dylan “Light” Catipon, who was using Edith.

This key move allowed Falcons AP.Bren to shift their focus to the turret, securing the game in just 16 minutes.

Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel’s performance as Faramis was particularly impressive throughout the match.

His consistent damage output and support during team fights helped propel his team to victory – earning him the MVP honors after finishing the game with three kills, five assists, and only one death.

“Masaya kase we won. But then again, we’ve [meron pa rin kaming] weakpoints na kailangan ayusin. I think aware naman sila doon. We’ll probably tackle about it next week,” said head coach Francis “Duckey” Glindro during the post-match interview.

Game 1 saw a steady pace in the early minutes, with David “FlapTzy” Canon (Hylos) drawing first blood at the four-minute, 30-second mark.

Falcons AP.Bren initially secured a strong lead, but a Triple-Kill from Dylan “Light” Catipon’s Gatotkaca reduced their 5k gold advantage to just 1k during a skirmish in the top lane at the 13-minute, 40-second mark.

As RSG Philippines managed to even out the gold deficit, Michael “KyleTzy” Samson (Fanny) executed a brilliant back-door play in the top lane, while a four-versus-five team fight raged on in the mid-lane jungle.

This move shifted the momentum back to Falcons AP.Bren.

FlapTzy and KyleTzy then combined forces to close out Game 1 after 19 minutes and 22 seconds, ending with a combined KDA of three kills, 12 assists, and four deaths.

Looking ahead, Falcons AP.Bren will face Smart Omega on September 28 at 7:30 PM. Meanwhile, RSG Philippines is set to clash with Blacklist International on September 21 at 2:30 PM.
