Even Pumaren is surprised with Adamson’s strong start

The Adamson University Soaring Falcons are in the midst of their best start since the 73rd Season of the UAAP.

The loss to the Far Eastern University, Adamson’s first loss of the season, magnified the inexperience of the young Falcons. But it served its purpose, as Adamson were able to close out the heavily-favored Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles and National University Bulldogs, showing the maturity and character they had sorely lacked against the Tamaraws.

Wednesday afternoon, in sharp contrast to their high-scoring games, the Soaring Falcons showed another facet of their game against the Bulldogs as they embraced the slow pace their opponents set. The Falcons were able to limit the cagers from Jhocson Street to just 11 points in the final frame, contesting almost every NU shot while forcing turnovers that led to easy points.UAAP-79-AdU-vs.-NU-Tungcab-6218 Even Pumaren is surprised with Adamson's strong start AdU Basketball News UAAP - philippine sports news

“It was a tiring game. Slowly, we are showing a little bit of maturity and character,” said first year Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren.

No one has been more surprised with the sudden growth displayed by the Soaring Falcons over the past few games than Pumaren himself.

“Even me, I’m so amazed and surprised with the maturity my players are showing,” he furthered.

“Coming into the game, people scouted as a Jerrick Ahanmisi, Rob Manalang, and Papi Sarr team but this time the bench contributed,” he added, as the Adamson bench scored 30 points against National U with Jd Tungcab, Sean Manganti, and Kristian Bernardo combining for 27 markers.UAAP-79-AdU-vs.-NU-Manganti-6328 Even Pumaren is surprised with Adamson's strong start AdU Basketball News UAAP - philippine sports news

Pumaren then shared that even he did not expect that they would be in the position that they are now.

“Probably if you mentioned to me during the pre-season that after four games we will be in this position, I would have told you that you are pulling my leg.”
