Six UAAP teams have advanced to the 2026 Asiabasket National Student-Athletes Championship, led by defending UAAP champion De La Salle University and runner-up University of the Philippines after both schools eliminated their respective opponents on Sunday at the UP Varsity Training Center.
The Fighting Maroons dismantled fellow UAAP squad Adamson Soaring Falcons, 87-60, behind Veejay Pre’s explosive 27-point performance on 92.3 percent shooting from the field, along with eight rebounds and two assists.
Sean Alter added 15 points on 77.8 percent shooting and grabbed eight rebounds to support the win.
The Green Archers, meanwhile, overpowered NCAA side Benilde Blazers, 76-66.
Luis Pablo topped the scoring with 16 points on 77.8 percent shooting, while also hauling down 13 rebounds and dishing out three assists.
Jcee Macalalag added 13 points and three rebounds in the victory.
Joining La Salle and UP in the UAAP contingent are Far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University, National University, and University of Santo Tomas.
On the same day, the Bulldogs dominated the Arellano Chiefs, 87-76, while the Growling Tigers also posted a convincing win over the St. Clare Saints, 87-76.
PJ Palacielo led the Bulldogs with 18 points and six rebounds, while Justine Garcia contributed 11 points, six rebounds, and seven assists.
For UST, UAAP Rookie of the Year Collins Akowe made an immediate impact in his tournament debut with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Mark Llemit added 17 points on 87.5 percent shooting, along with seven rebounds.
Ateneo and FEU secured their spots in the next round earlier on May 9 at the UPHSD Gymnasium in Las Piñas.
The Blue Eagles eliminated the Mapúa Cardinals, 91-83, while the Tamaraws cruised past the San Sebastian Golden Stags, 100-77.
Michael Asoro led Ateneo with 12 points, five rebounds, and an assist, while Kieffer Alas, Jay M Leal, and Divine Adili each chipped in 11 points.
Shawn Tuano added 10 to complete a balanced offensive effort.
For FEU, Mohamed Konateh anchored the team with 19 points and 25 rebounds, while Janrey Pasaol and Jorick Bautista contributed 17 points apiece. Pasaol also added seven rebounds and three assists.
On the NCAA side, only two teams advanced—reigning champion San Beda and rival Letran.
The Red Lions edged the Lyceum Pirates, 67-61, behind Daniel Marcelo’s 15 points, while Zedjay Etulle added 11 points, including three triples, along with four rebounds and two steals.
The Knights, for their part, pulled away from the Perpetual Altas, 78-64.
Chad Gammad led the Knights with 23 points and a rebound, while Jonathan Manalili produced a double-double of 11 points and 10 assists, along with three rebounds.
In the quarterfinals set on Saturday, May 23 at the Enrique M. Razon Sports Center in Taft Avenue, La Salle will face FEU, UP will battle NU, Ateneo will take on UST, while San Beda meets Letran in a rivalry match.
Adamson and the rest of the eliminated teams will compete in the classification round.
