Last January 20, 2018, Eric Camson almost figured in a fist fight with Raymond Almazan. The Kia Picanto were able to stun the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 98-94, for their first win of the year.
Sunday evening, Camson once again almost came to blows. This time around, it was Allein Maliksi standing in front of him. It ended up with a 126-98 blow out for the now-Columbian Dyip.
With 11:21 left in the game, Maliksi was able to free himself up against Ronald Tubid on the post. But as he landed, he was caught by Camson’s right arm. Maliksi did not take too kindly of this, elbowing the 6-foot-4 bruisers chest that almost resulted to a scuffle.
Both players were assessed with technical fouls and no one was ejected.
Camson pleaded his case afterwards, saying that he had no ill intention to hurt Maliksi.
“Wala naman yun eh, part siguro ng basketball yun,” expressed the 27-year-old Batangueno, who finished the game with 12 markers. “Di ko naman intention eh, kasi di ko rin naman alam… Siya yung bumagsak sa akin so kung intended ko, kilala niyo naman ako. Wala naman talaga. Kung nasaktan siya, di ko naman alam.
“Maganda sa akin, na-control ko emosyon ko–na hindi na ako gumanti.”
Still, the five-year pro plans to apologize to Maliksi when he gets a chance to.
“Oo naman, wala naman sa aking ano. Siguro nga kahit magkita kami ngayon,” he replied when asked if he was going to talk to Maliksi. “Siya lang talaga yung bumalik sa akin. Wala naman sa akin yon.”
But even if him getting into tussles is resulting to wins for his team, Camson hopes that it won’t happen the next time around.
“Ayaw kong maging sign yon! Kasi Unang una syempre, ang emotion, salamat nga napigilan ko yung emotions kahit binalikan pa niya ako,” he shared.
“Gusto naming manalo in a nice way.”
