Jayrack De La Noche and Alexander Iraya registered a solid start to their 2021 FIVB Beach Volleyball U-21 World Championships, taking down Canada in straight sets, Wednesday in Phuket, Thailand.
The young upstarts take the provisional lead in Pool G after they dominated Colby Nemeth and Josh Gagnon, 21-16, 21-11, in the two team’s opening game of the tournament.
The other two teams in the said group are USA and Hungary.
The Americans Matthew Gentry and Philip Catanzaro took the other win over the Hungarians Csanad Petik and Domonkos Doczi in a closer straight-setter, 21-18, 21-17.
De La Noche and Iraya will take on fellow opening day winners in the USA pair on the Centre Court on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
