Creamline salvaged a second consecutive bronze medal, extending its remarkable Premier Volleyball League (PVL) podium streak to 19 straight tournaments.
The Cool Smashers reaffirmed their status as one of the league’s most consistent contenders, sweeping the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, 25-15, 25-13, 25-22, in the battle for third place in the 2025 Invitational Conference on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Coming off a bronze medal finish in the PVL On Tour just two weeks ago, Creamline once again ensured that no conference has ever passed without the team landing on the podium. Their tally now stands at 10 championships, four silver medals, and five bronzes.
“Syempre thankful sa mga players talagang binigay nila yung 100-percent nila sa game na ito. Kesyo third or fourth, or Finals, yung Creamline naman talagang nandiyan palagi so talagang nagtrabaho yung mga players natin,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.
Veterans Michele Gumabao, Alyssa Valdez, and Jema Galanza sparked the Cool Smashers in the second set. They erased a 7-8 deficit with an explosive 18-5 run to cruise to a 25-13 win and move a set away from securing the medal.
The Crossovers, however, refused to fold easily. They opened the third frame with a 9-5 lead and stayed within striking distance until they tied the set at 22-all.
But with the match on the line, Gumabao took over, delivering three straight hits to seal the sweep in just one hour and 21 minutes.
Gumabao finished with 17 points off 14 kills and three blocks, while Galanza chipped in 12 points on top of seven receptions and seven digs. Valdez also made her presence felt with nine points, 18 receptions, and 13 digs.
Chery Tiggo, which had bagged silver in the On Tour, settled for fourth this time around.
Ara Galang was the lone Crossover in double digits with 10 points and five digs, while Cess Robles added nine points and five receptions.
