Creamline commits Meneses, 7 Cool Smashers to SEA Games team

Fresh from bagging the All-Filipino Conference crown, Creamline’s main core is now setting its sights on the Philippine women’s national volleyball team’s campaign in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.

Recently-crowned All-Filipino Conference MVP and Best Outside Spiker Tots Carlos, Best Setter and Finals MVP Jia De Guzman, Best Opposite Spiker Michele Gumabao, Best Outside Spiker Jema Galanza, Ced Domingo, Kyla Atienza, and Alyssa Valdez will banner the women’s squad in Cambodia.

Also part of the national team is Cool Smashers head coach Sherwin Meneses, who will serve as an assistant coach.

“Sa SEA Games, magko-commit din kami para makatulong sa national team natin.

“So, siguro ‘yun muna ang next priority ng team, makatulong dun sa makakuha ng medal sa SEA Games, with seven players ng Creamline. Nag-commit kami, so sana makatulong kami,” said Meneses after the win.

Gumabao said that she and the other Creamline players are eager to impart their ‘Happy-happy’ mantra to the Philippine squad.

“It’s good because andiyan naman si Coach Sherwin, so the system, hopefully, ma-adapt namin ‘yung system from Creamline. We have seven players, so at least we can also share to them our culture, ‘yung happy-happy namin na mentality,” said Gumabao.

“Hopefully we can bring that and contribute to the national team. So we’re just ready talaga kung ano ‘yung challenge and ano ‘yung hihingiin din sa amin, to be able to work with a new set of coaches and teammates. So pabor din sa amin, para maka-experience din kami ng mas maganda and mas mataas na level ng laro.”
