Coach’s display of trust honor Daquis, Gonzaga

With seven foreign imports in the lineup, seeing the “Magnificent 7” of PSL-F2 Logistics Manila play on the court at the same time in the 2016 FIVB Women’s Club World Championships was just a dream – possible yet improbable.

But, in the ultimate show of trust, the team’s Serbian head coach Moro Branislav slotted in the seven FIVB Golden Ticket-holders in the second set against Turkish powerhouse Ezcasibasi Vitra.FIVB-CWC-PSL-F2-Logistics-Manila-vs.-Eczacibasi-Vitra-Istanbul-Jaja-Santiago-Ces-Molina-1500 Coach's display of trust honor Daquis, Gonzaga 2016 FIVB Women's CWC News PSL Volleyball - philippine sports news

Although the defending champions were only fielding their substitute players, the Pinays played with unrivaled passion and intensity – even taking the lead early. But the shorter locals ran out of steam in the end and succumbed to the gargantuan Turks.

Skipper Rachel Ann Daquis could not contain her emotions after the game. The Lady Trooper relished the opportunity to play alongside her friends and rivals in the biggest stage in volleyball.

“Sobrang thankful namin kay coach. Sobrang blessed lang ng feeling kasi hindi namin talaga ine-expect na mangyayari ‘yun. Malaking bagay na binigyan kami nang ganoong trust,” Daquis explained while almost breaking down in tears.

Her longtime Army teammate and friend Jovelyn Gonzaga felt the same way.FIVB-CWC-F2-Logistics-PSL-Manila-vs.-Pomi-Casalmaggiore-Jovelyn-Gonzaga-0856 Coach's display of trust honor Daquis, Gonzaga 2016 FIVB Women's CWC News PSL Volleyball - philippine sports news

“Ang gusto ko lang talaga is makakuha nang pagkakataon na mapakita ‘yung kaya ko. Sobrang laking bagay sa akin na makapaglaro sa tapat ng mga kababayan ko na ka-team din ang mga kapwa ko Pilipino,” the Guimaras native said.

“Hindi ko talaga ‘to makakalimutan ‘to. Salamat talaga kay coach sa mga nanuod.”
