Chandler McDaniel put on a goal-scoring masterclass to lead Stallion Laguna to a 6-1 rout of Mongolian side Khovd Western in the preliminary round of the 2025–26 AFC Women’s Champions League on Monday at Thuwunna Stadium in Myanmar.
The 27-year-old Filipino-American forward opened the scoring with a stunning free kick in the 7th minute.
She then converted a penalty just three minutes later, awarded after a foul on teammate Mia Bookhard.
McDaniel completed her hat trick in the 89th minute, calmly slotting the ball into the net after capitalizing on a defensive error by Khovd Western.
“I’m really proud of Stallion tonight,” McDaniel said. “We came out strong and showed that we’re here to compete. Of course, there’s always room to improve. We’re looking forward to building on this game, showing up for the next two matches, proving our worth, and securing two more wins to advance from the group stage.”
Bookhard also had a standout performance, scoring twice.
Her first goal in the 21st minute was a brilliant solo run past the opposition defense, while her second was a tap-in in stoppage time of the first half (45+2’).
Isabella Villafor added another highlight with a powerful header in the 58th minute to complete the scoring spree.
The only blemish on Stallion Laguna’s performance came in the 78th minute when Lee Nari’s impressive finish past goalkeeper Olivia McDaniel gave Khovd Western a consolation goal.
After matchday one, Stallion Laguna sits second in Group A with three points and a +5 goal difference, trailing first-placed ISPE, who defeated the Bank of Guam Strykers 9-0 in an earlier kickoff.
Stallion Laguna will aim to build on this victory when they face the Strykers on Thursday at 8:30 PM (Manila time) at the same venue.
