Cardona to start comeback attempt with Zark’s

Mac Cardona’s attempt to come back to the big league will literally start from the bottom. In a report by Randolph Leongson of Inquirer.net, the 11-year veteran is set to suit up for PBA D-League team Zark’s Jawbreakers.

“We’re going back the same way we started. We’re giving chance to the other players like Mac to prove that they still have gas left in their tank,” Zark’s team owner Commie Espina Varona told Inquirer.net.

“He will end the conference with us. But surely, we want him in our team for the future,” team manager Sherwin Cantos added.

The 35-year-old swing man last played in the PBA back in the 2016 Commissioner’s Cup with the NLEX Road Warriors. During his career, he posted norms of 14.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.

Last year, it was reported that Cardona had been hospitalized due to a drug overdose.

Currently, the Jawbreakers are sporting a dismal 1-7 record with just two games remaining. Also set to make his head coaching debut for Zark’s is Gino Enriquez, as Jade Padrigao was dismissed by the team.

Both Cardona and Enriquez will make their Zark’s debut on Tuesday, July 18.
