PSL: Baltazar, Concepcion push Pampanga G to semis; Boracay forces do-or-die vs Davao

Archie Concepcion scored the game-winning three-pointer as the No. 4 Pampanga G Lanterns narrowly defeated the fifth-ranked Sta. Rosa Laguna 72-71 in the quarterfinals of the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup held at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga on Tuesday night.

In the following play, Jamer Jamito blocked Keith Datu’s layup attempt, and the G Lanterns prevented Dhon Reverente from making a last-gasp shot to secure the thrilling victory.

Justine Baltazar, the highly-valued big man for the G Lanterns, recorded 18 points, 25 rebounds, and four assists. Meanwhile, Kurt Reyson scored 18 points and made five three-pointers.

Concepcion contributed 12 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the G Lanterns. The team will face top seed San Juan in the semifinals, in an event presented by Dumper party-list, Winzir, and Skin Care Depot. The event is co-presented by SCD Cosmetics and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton, with PBA and Gilas Pilipinas great Marc Pingris serving as Commissioner.

In another game, the seventh-seeded Boracay dominated the defending champion and No. 2 Davao Occidental-Cocolife with a score of 91-80, forcing their Last 8 showdown to a deciding match.

Mac Cardona, a former PBA star, led the Islanders with 27 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Johnsherick Estrada (22), Damian Lasco (14), and Jaymar Gimpayan (13) also scored double-digits for Boracay, which faced off against the Tigers once more at press time last night.

The winner of that game will face Pampanga Royce Hotel in the semifinals.
