Calvin Abueva suddenly leaves venue moments before Alaska-Blackwater match

Calvin Abueva suddenly and mysteriously left the SMART Araneta Coliseum just moments prior to the Alaska Aces’ match versus the Blackwater Elite, Saturday afternoon.

The Beast was already in uniform and was even seen warming up for their game, until, according to eyewitnesses, he spoke with head coach Alex Compton and left the venue afterwards.

According to some accounts who requested anonymity, the sixth-year pro had to rush home to attend to some personal matters, which require his full attention.

Twitter user @dbuzzketball unveiled via tweet that Abueva hadn’t been able to attend to Alaska’s practices for four days, making this sudden disappearance of his even more mysterious. A source added that Abueva is currently nursing a sore hamstring.

The enigmatic 6-foot-2 untility forward is posting norms of 14.8 points and 10.2 rebounds this conference.

It has been a rough week for the Kapampangan star.

Last Monday, Abueva, along with Raymond Almazan, was removed from the Gilas pool for the FIBA World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers’ February window.
