Calvin Abueva was discharged from the hospital on the same night he got hurt during Magnolia’s eventual win over Blackwater in their PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup on Thursday.
Commissioner Willie Marcial has already spoken to the Hotshots veteran and was informed that all is well after a jarring collision with Sedrick Barefield had him rushed from the Ninoy Aquino Stadium to the Manila Doctors Hospital.
Play was halted at the 7:19-mark of the second quarter when the Bossing guard looked to intercept the cross-court pass intended toward Jerrick Ahanmisi on the left corner, but accidentally elbowed the 36-year-old forward.
Abueva got decked and was eventually stretchered out of the venue before being transported to MaDocs due to an extreme case of neck spasms, the reason why he was worn a neck brace by the medical stand-by.
Fortunately for him and the rest of the Magnolia camp, the two-time BPC suffered no further damages as CT scans came out negative.
Abueva, though, has been advised by the doctor to sit out the Hotshots’ game versus Converge on Sunday, December 1, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Kapampangan cage can suit up and return to action against NorthPort on December 4, Wednesday, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
