Calvin Abueva involved in verbal confrontation with Mo Tautua’a’s wife

Calvin Abueva got involved in a shouting match moments after Game 2 of the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Sunday night.

The Magnolia star got into a heated altercation with the wife of Mo Tautua’a, Aida, while on his way out of the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

“Ewan ko sa kanya,” Abueva told reporters.

“Dumaan siya rito, hinihintay ko ‘yung anak ko. And then, ‘Why the [expletive] are you smiling?’ Tinanong niya ‘ko. Umii-smile ba ‘ko sa’yo … Nandiyan ‘yung mga anak ko, gaganyan siya?”

Things even escalated when Abueva came back with his wife Sam in tow, and both of them tried to confront Mo and his wife backstage.

The 36-year-old veteran was caught on camera challenging the San Miguel forward to a fistfight, but no such incident took place.

Beermen consultant Leo Austria helped out in pacifying the situation but Abueva still had some choice words while he and his wife were escorted out.

The Tautua’as, meanwhile, headed out of the MoA Arena in a different exit while aided by security. Aida, though, went to social media to air her side, alleging that Abueva catcalled her.

“TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT —Calvin DID NOT physically attack me,” she wrote on X. “I had to walk past him to go to the restroom.

“He smirked at me, nodded his head up & down & said, ‘yeaaah’ laughing. I said, ‘wtf is wrong with you’ & kept walking. He walked after me and literally got in my face,” her tweet continued.

It was undeniably another controversial night for the eccentric Abueva, who got whistled for a technical foul early in the fourth quarter of Game 2 for taunting San Miguel head coach Jorge Gallent.

Abueva only scored three points in 17 minutes off the bench as he was saddled by foul trouble with five. The Hotshots lost, 109-85.

The incident will surely be investigated by the PBA Commissioner’s Office.
