Bryan Sajonia leaves FEU, transfers to San Beda

Bryan Sajonia has bid farewell to Far Eastern University.

Incoming first-year head coach Denok Miranda confirmed that the incoming third year guard has left the Tamaraws just days after their campaign in Davao.

“Yes,” he said confirming Sajonia’s departure.

Sajonia, 22, has since committed to San Beda earlier this week, joining Bismarck Lina, the Calimag bros, and Joe Celzo as the building blocks of the Red Lions for Season 100.

“Having another shooter, an experienced guard at that, is always welcome in our team. But he is not just a shooter but also a very good defender,” said Red Lions head coach Yuri Escueta.

The 6-foot Ilonggo guard only played two seasons for FEU.

During his rookie year, he posted numbers of 5.13 points and 2.4 rebounds.UAAP-84-MBB-FEU-vs.-UE-Bryan-Sajonia-4552 Bryan Sajonia leaves FEU, transfers to San Beda Basketball FEU NCAA News SBC UAAP - philippine sports news

He then made the leap in UAAP Season 85, averaging 11.17 points, 4.17 rebounds, 1.67 assists, and 1.58 steals per game. He also started 11 of the 14 games for the Tamaraws.

Sajonia’s shoes will take a collective effort to fill, admitted Miranda.

“Siya yung best defensive player namin kaya all our guards need to step up defensively,” said Miranda.

“Mabibigyan din ng more opportunities yung other guards namin like Jorick Bautista, Patrick Sleat, and Cholo Anonuevo to play guard next season.”

Sajonia must sit out one year before being eligible for Season 100. He still has three playing years left.
