Bryan Bagunas scorches anew, leads NU Bulldogs past Adamson

League-leading scorer Bryan Bagunas was unstoppable, powering the National University Bulldogs to a quick win over the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 25-18, 25-18, 25-19, to start the UAAP Season 81 Men’s Volleyball tournament second round at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Bagunas dropped 26 points off 19 attacks, two blocks, and all of NU’s five aces. He also needed just 31 attack attempts to do his damage.

“Wala ka namang masasabi diyan kay Bryan. Kung anong kailangan ng team, gagawin niya,” said NU head coach Dante Alinsunurin of his graduating open hitter.

The Bulldogs used their overwhelming height advantage to stifle the Falcons each set, as they tallied 14 blocks to Adamson’s five.

“Kapag gumana naman talaga ‘yung blocking namin, confident talaga kami. May mga bagay pa kami na kailangan i-polish, pero maganda naman ‘yung tinatakbo ng team ngayon,” added Alinsunurin.

Captain Francis Saura paced NU with 11 points, while James Natividad added six.

The Bulldogs won their seventh straight after dropping their opening match.

Leo Miranda was the lone Falcon in double-digits with 11 points. Pao Pablico was held to nine points.

Adamson dropped to a 4-4 record.
