Brian Heruela has no issues with being traded by TNT, saying that it will always be part of business.
Just last week, the KaTropa shipped the stocky point guard to the Blackwater Elite in exchange for Mike DiGregorio, since the flagship MVP franchise had had their eye on the Fil-Am sharpshooter for some time.
This is now the fourth time in Heruela’s ongoing five-year professional career that he got traded.
“It’s really okay with me,” he said. “Anything can happen. It’s a business.
“And I just try to keep it positive. Wherever you go, as a basketball player you just have to be ready at all times and just be thankful and blessed teams want you.”
Now, Hereuela’s focus is on helping Blackwater, the team that took him with the 26th pick in the 2014 PBA Draft.
“For me, I’m just trying to figure it out in what ways I can help them,” said the four-time PBA champion with San Miguel.
“Maybe offensively, defensively, whatever it takes. Just trying to help whatever my team needs me to do.”
Heruela made his debut with the Elite on Wednesday. However, it didn’t go the way he wanted, as they lost to Kwame Alexander and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 82-99, dropping to 2-5 in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Still, the 30-year-old Cebuano remains positive, as they now look to bounce back on Saturday versus Alaska.
“It didn’t go as planned but we’re very optimistic and positive. Hopefully makabawi kami next game,” said Heruela, who had three dimes, a board, and a steal. “We just had lapses we have to fix offensively and defensively.
“We just had a bad game. Just try to recover and hopefully we’ll do well next game.”
