BREN Esports’ Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy Nepomuceno was named the M2 Group Stage Most Valuable Player, the league announced on Thursday afternoon.
The 16-year-old core dazzled in his world debut, averaging 9.0 kills, 1.5 deaths, and 7.5 assists in the group stage.
More importantly, he led BREN Esports to a dominant 2-0 standing in the tournament’s bracket of death.
KarlTzy posted 13 kills, a death, and eight assists using Harley in their Game One outing against 10S Gaming Frost.
He followed it up by scoring 13 of BREN Esports’ 23 kills in Game Two playing Lancelot. In that same match, he scored the tournament’s first savage. KarlTzy also had four assists and zero deaths en route to a 2-0 sweep of the Japanese squad.
The Southeast Asian Games gold medalist’s numbers decreased a bit in his second series. Still, it was enough to tow BREN Esports to the upper bracket at the expense of their rival.
KarlTzy supplied a bulk of the damage in BREN Esports’ Game One victory over MPLI champion Alter Ego. He put up five kills, four deaths, and eight assists playing Claude.
He then had a field day come Game Two, finishing with five kills, a death, and nine assists using Yi Sun Shin to lead BREN Esports’ sweep of Group C.
KarlTzy and BREN Esports will go up against Burmese Ghouls in the upper bracket playoffs, Friday.
